Abstract
This paper presents a theological interpretation of Richard Feynman's "sum over histories" formulation of quantum mechanics and its visual representation, the Feynman diagram. We argue that this framework, developed to calculate the probabilities of quantum interactions, is a profound and precise isomorphism of the Christian doctrine of Divine Providence and Sovereignty. We posit that the interaction vertex represents a moment of divine choice, where one reality is actualized from a spectrum of possibilities. The unobservable virtual particles that mediate forces are modeled as the physical signature of God's unseen, background providential action, the hidden mechanisms by which He sustains a lawful and coherent universe. Christ as the "Classical Path"
In this model, the "classical path"—the one of least action—is typically the largest contributor to the final sum. We can posit a Christological corollary: the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the "classical path" of human history. It is the central, least-action trajectory that dominates the "sum over histories" for salvation, providing the primary and most powerful contribution to God's ultimate redemptive purpose.
